Examining the Linkages among Carbon Dioxide Emissions, Electricity Production and Economic Growth in Different Income Levels

چکیده

Our industrialized world highly depends on fossil fuels to cover its energy needs. Although have been linked with economic growth, their use has also found severe impacts the environment. The linkages among carbon dioxide emissions, consumption and growth extensively examined in current literature. present study focuses electricity production from fuels, as well renewable sources examines CO2 emissions 119 countries of different income levels, by assessing Granger causality. In addition, Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis is tested, order evaluate whether are an inverse U-shaped relationship N-shape higher levels. EKC confirmed for high upper-middle countries, but not lower-middle low levels a bidirectional causality between GDP per capita all

Economic and Environmental Factors Determining the Amount of Carbon Dioxide Emissions in the MENA Countries

Abstract: The gradual warming of the earth and its negative environmental and economic impacts contributed to pay attention to sustainable development considerably. Since climate change is a major cause of greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2, countries are seeking to prevent the rapid growth of emissions to reduce global climate change. Accordingly, and considering the importance of the sub...

The Impacts of Population Change and Economic Growth on Carbon Emissions in Nigeria

T he main aim of this study is to investigate the impacts of population total, gross domestic product per capita, urbanization rate and energy use on carbon emissions in Nigeria for a period of 1981-2015 using autoregressive distributed lag approach to co-integration (ARDL). The empirical results revealed evidence of a long run relationship among the variables. The generalized ridge ...

Carbon Dioxide Emissions, Economic Growth and the Impact of the Kyoto Protocol

In this paper we analyze the driving factors of CO2 emissions in the context of environmental regulations using a dynamic panel data model for the period 1960 to 2009. Given the current policy debate and the importance of evaluating the effectiveness in terms of emission reductions of the already established climate agreements, we investigate to what extent emission reduction obligations from t...

Carbon Dioxide Emissions, Economic Growth and the Impact of the Kyoto Protocol

In the last two decades increasing attention has been paid to the relationship between environmental degradation and economic development. According to the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis this relationship may be described by an inverted U-curve. However, recent evidence rejects the EKC hypothesis for GHG emissions in a broad sense. In this paper we analyze the driving factors of C...
